Little do some Bemidji State University (BSU) students know, but Bemidji has three Olympians competing this year.  Sophomore Zuzana Tomcikova has already made Bemidji State proud in her Olympic debut against the highly favored Canadian team.  Bemidji natives, Natalie Nicholson and Jeff Isaacson, the latter of which is a Bemidji State alumn, are competing in curling.
With two games down so far, Tomcikova and her fellow Slovakian teammates have one more game left of round robin play — against Switzerland — which will air today at 5 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST).  The Slovakian women's hockey team ventured onto Olympic ice for the first time in history this year, but is unfortunately already out of medal contention.
The men’s and women’s curling teams are each in the middle of round robin play, and will start the medal rounds Wednesday, February 24.
Many American athletes have already seen success in the first few days of the Olympics, with two gold medals after four days.  Seth Westcott won his second consecutive gold in the men’s snowboard cross and Hannah Kearney won the gold in women’s moguls.

What to Watch For
Men’s snowboarding half-pipe starts today, with fan favorite Shawn White to compete for team USA.  The finals will start at 5:15 CST.
Team USA men’s hockey will take the ice again Thursday at 10 a.m. when they take on Norway.  Team USA beat the Swiss team 3-1 on Tuesday, and are looking to go 2-0 in pool play.
Women’s hockey will take the ice right after, looking to continue rolling through their pool when they take on the Finnish team.  The women’s hockey team beat the Chinese team 12-1 and the Russian team 12-0.
Bobsled will start first qualifying rounds on Saturday, without the ever-famous Jamacian bobsled team, who failed to qualify this year.
With the Olympics running every day until the final day of February, students should have no problem procrastinating their homework.  Just turn on your television and you will be sure to find an Olympic event of some kind.
The full Olympic schedule is posted on www.nbcolympics.com. Just remember that all times are Pacific Standard time online, so tune in two hours earlier if you want to see it.
