Kaus averaged 7.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 2.0 assists in 25:30 minutes per game last weekend, guiding the BSU women’s basketball team to a 2-0 performance at the Grand Canyon Thanksgiving Tournament.
In Friday’s game against Western State University (CO), Kaus posted 14 rebounds and seven blocks. Her rebound total set a team-high this season and her seven blocks established a new single-game record at BSU, previously set in the 1999-00 season.
In Saturday’s contest versus Western New Mexico, Kaus totaled 10 points and 13 rebounds to record her first career double-double. She shot 0.500 from the field in the game, while adding four blocks to her league-leading 17 in 2009-10.
Her immediate impact has helped BSU start 4-1 which is the best start by a Bemidji State University program since 1986-87. This was Kaus’s first Beaver Pride honor of her career.
Chris McKelvie
McKelvie led the BSU men’s hockey team with a goal and an assist last weekend as the Beavers posted a 1-1 record in the Subway Holiday Classic.
McKelvie contributed an assist early in the game Friday and netted his second game-winning goal of the season with just 3:19 minutes left in regulation to down the top-ranked Miami University Red Hawks.
His two points in the victory stood as his second multi-point game of 2009-10. He finished the weekend with a +2 plus/minus rating.
The win marked the first time the BSU men’s hockey program has taken down the number one team in the country.McKelvie was also selected as the College Hockey America Offensive Player of the Week earlier this week.
