Dear Allie,

My roommate is moving out, I have nothing in common with any of the guys on my floor, and I feel like I don't fit in with my friends. What should I do?

Dear Lonely Boy,

I would bet that other guys and girls feel the same way. People tend to feel lonely when it’s near the end of the semester, and in general begin to feel home sick. I would suggest going to a study group for one of your classes, joining a club on campus, working out in the Rec Center or exploring a new floor in your dorm or perhaps other dorms on campus to meet new people.  You may feel like you don't fit in, but you probably do.

One of the most frightening things for most college students during the school year is becoming depressed. It may feel like you don’t have anything in common with other people when you actually do, or that you really do fit in with your friends but you just can't tell because you are so depressed right now.

If you do have depression, it’s not something to toy around with. Go to the BSU Health Services and see a therapist. They can tell if you have depression or not. If you do, they’ll help you out. However if you don’t have depression, this feeling will more than likely go away when you either go visit family or when spring semester comes around and you have a new roommate!
