Dear Allie,

I really like this guy. Hes nice, sweet, and kind. The only problem is that he is 12 years older than me and has a kid. Im 22 years old. Is it wrong to date someone that much older than me?

Dear What to do,

I dont want to say that is wrong, but I dont want to say that its right either. It all depends on the guy. Sure he might be nice and sweet, but is he mature? Is he responsible? In other words does he act like an adult?
Secondly he has a child. One has to question why didnt it work out with his ex-wife or girlfriend. When I hear of a friend dating or seeing someone significantly older than them it makes me question what this guy is getting at or looking for. Personally I wonder what business does a 34 year old have dating a 22 year old when he really should be looking for someone more his age. I know its not like your 16 and hes 28, but 22 is still young.
Perhaps try looking for someone closer to your age; someone you have more things in common with. However, if you are truly happy with this man and he means well, then by all means dont let anyone stop you.
