Students and community members showed up in warm clothes and a need for speed. In the spirit of Halloween, runners arrived in full costume to add to the "fun" in the Fun Run. Costumes included a hunter, an 80’s aerobics instructor, a cat, Ronald McDonald, the Energizer Bunny and Dr. McNinja (a character from a popular online comic). The event was held as a way to promote a healthy lifestyle and allow people to have a good time doing it. With prizes, medals and a small breakfast after the run, the participants were encouraged to socialize with one another to enrich the experience. There were runners and walkers alike all with different levels of experience and training. All were welcome and no one was disappointed with the day’s results.
This year was the first year that the run began on campus. The 5k run started at the American Indian Resource Center (AIRC) and followed the lakeside path all the way to Paul and Babe in Paul Bunyan Park. After passing the "Pumpkin," the runners doubled back to the starting point.

Despite ice on the ground and a chill in the air from the blizzard the previous night, 52 runners came out for this year’s fun run.
The seventh annual Great Pumpkin Fun Run, normally held the day before Halloween, took place on Oct. 31 this year.
