With the Oscars right around the corner, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has many hard decisions to make. The choice for best picture was so challenging, HFPA decided to expand the category from five to ten pictures in order to compensate for the 2010 line-up. Some of the pictures include "Avatar," "Up In The Air," "Inglorious Bastards," "District 9" and "Up."
For people who have not yet seen any of the best picture nominations, there is still some time to catch up on the year’s best films. The Oscars will be presented on Sunday, March 7.
The line up for best actor and actress will also be a challenging choice, since there were multiple Oscar worthy performances this year. Two of the favorites for best actor and best actress include Jeff Bridges in "Crazy Hearts" and Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side."
The film that is expected to dominate the evening is James Cameron’s multi-billion dollar hit, "Avatar." The film, which has already received excellent reviews around the world, has been nominated in nine different categories, including Best Picture, Directing, Cinematography, Editing, Music Score and Visual Effects.
Another film that is expected to do exceptionally well in its five nominated categories is Pixar’s tenth film, "Up." Along with a Best Picture nomination, other nominations include Best Animated Feature Film, Original Score, Original Screenplay and Sound Editing.
The 2010 Oscars will be a night of heavy competitions and satisfying rewards. With big names like George Clooney, Sandra Bullock and James Cameron, it’s sure to be a big night in Hollywood for fans and the film industry.
